Anthony J. Girifalco

Tony has been with the Center since it opened in 1988 and continues to serve multiple roles for the organization, including planning and executing corporate strategy, developing new programs and services, and coordinating and developing strategies and proposals for the DVIRC and its local and regional partners. His current focus is on STEM Education.  Girifalco co-authored the Commonwealth’s successful proposal to the National Governors Association for a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Center planning grant, and was the regional point of contact for the PA STEM Initiative. 

Girifalco helped to create the regional Applied Engineering Technology education initiative as a way to develop talent for area manufacturing companies, and is the coordinator of the Greater Philadelphia Regional Compact for STEM Education.  He is the program manager for regional work on behalf of the Navy and the National Defense Education Program, and the Principal Investigator for a National Science Foundation Research Grant on STEM Asset Mapping.

Girifalco serves on the boards of the Pennsylvania Economic Development Association and the 21st Century Partnership for STEM Education.  He holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Georgetown University.
